Autumn 2014 Bulletin

Autumn 2014 Bulletin

I´d like as usual to open this Autumn 2014 bulletin by thanking my clients for another great Spring and Summer season. It´s been a busy period and one during which I´ve met some wonderful people as well as having the pleasure of welcoming back some returning clients which is always very special for me.   Relocation to Valencia This year has also been exciting as we relocated to the city of Valencia , a move that has added an extra dimension for our clients who wish to combine a break in this amazing city with some mountain biking in the [read more]

Mountain Biking from Valencia

Mountain Biking from Valencia

I´ve just returned from 3 great days of mountain biking from Valencia with a client from UK.  Damian spent a day with me last year when he booked a beginners skills course and combined this with a city break in Valencia.  He enjoyed his time in Valencia so much that he decided to make a return visit and combine his visit with 3 days of bespoke guided mountain biking.  His specific requirements were essentially 3 full days of guided mountain biking that included a strong element of off-road riding skills training.  Our philosophy of never mixing groups allows us to [read more]

Mountain Biking in Xativa

Mountain Biking in Xativa

Last week, I had the pleasure of welcoming back some returning clients from UK.  They did a guided mountain bike route with me last winter and had vowed to return for a longer route this year. Having spoken to the group about the kind of day they were looking for, and the kind of terrain they´d like to ride, we opted for a day of mountain biking in Xativa. We began our route in the Valle de Barxeta, and warmed up with a relaxed ride along some easy trails through orange groves, then a short stretch of road took us [read more]

Guided mountain biking in Alicante

Guided mountain biking in Alicante

Last week, I had the pleasure of providing a day of guided mountain biking in Alicante for a client from Holland.  He was on holiday with his family in the coastal resort of Elche, and wanted to include a day of mountain biking in his plans.  We´d arranged to meet in  Banyeres de Mariola, a historical village in the hills of the Sierra de Mariola.  Although just 45 minutes drive from Alicante, it´s rural location and stunning scenery make it feel as if it could be a World away.  The area offers some fabulous cross country mountain biking as well [read more]

Mountain biking and city breaks in Valencia

Mountain biking and city breaks in Valencia

I recently had the absolute pleasure of working with Eliane and Silvian from the Netherlands.   They were staying in the city of Valencia and had contacted me whilst arranging their trip, with the aim of combining their time in this enchanting city with a couple of days of mountain biking.  One of our specialities is to help clients to design their mountain biking and city breaks in Valencia. On our first day of biking I collected them from their hotel and we made the short journey south to the region of La Safor.  After a coffee stop and the usual safety [read more]

As ever I would like to begin by wishing everyone a very happy and healthy New Year. I hope that you´re all well, have had a good festive period and that 2014 biking plans and objectives are taking shape! The purpose of this bulletin is to reflect briefly on the last year but more so to keep you informed of new developments here in Valencia. 2013 was a successful and busy year, and I was fortunate enough to share many a great day with many interesting people. Mountain Biking in the Mountains of Valencia.

Mountain Biking in the Mountains of Valencia.

On Monday 13th August, together with my regular riding buddy Mark (he likes to see his titles change from initially “client” to “returning client” to “regular riding partner” and so on!…) I completed a superb route around the valleys and peaks of the Serpis and Gallinera area of Valencia. Despite the heat, once we were on the move it was quite comfortable – an advantage of biking over walking in the summer months is that there´s always a breeze.  We started by descending into the very pretty Serpis valley where we followed the riverside trail to the village of Lorxa. 18th Birthday Mountain Biking!

18th Birthday Mountain Biking!

On Thursday 9th August, I provided a guided mountain bike trip for a father and two sons who were holidaying at Villa Florencia in Marxuquera.  The eldest of the sons was celebrating his 18th birthday on that very day. The forecast was for temperatures to peak at around 32 degrees C but all 3 riders were fit and experienced.  With some sensible precautions, it´s possible to ride in these conditions.  Having ensured that we were carrying sufficient water and sun protection, and having amended the route accordingly, we set out.  I´d modified the route such that the main climb was [read more]
