Mountain Biking from Valencia

Mountain Biking from Valencia

Last week I had the absolute pleasure of meeting a couple of mountain bikers from Finland.  They were spending some time in the city of Valencia and wished to incorporate some biking into their plans. We´d talked before their arrival and had agreed upon a package that included a combination of bike rental and a couple of days of guided mountain biking in the hills that surround this magnificent city.   During their time in Valencia, they explored the surroundings with the bikes.  They enjoyed rides to the Natural Park of Albufera de Valencia, the coast line north of the [read more]

A Week of Guided Mountain Biking in Valencia & Sierra de Mariola

A Week of Guided Mountain Biking in Valencia & Sierra de Mariola

This week was special for me.  Not just because we enjoyed some great trails, new routes and fantastic Spring weather, but because I spent the week with two long standing clients who have since become friends.  Scott and Alain live in Montreal, Canada and this was the third time in three years that they have visited Valencia to go mountain biking with me. A few weeks before their trip, we discussed various options and designed a bespoke holiday for them.  This included a return to the mountains of La Safor and a few nights at Villa Florencia.  The second half [read more]

Mountain Biking in Xativa, Valencia

Mountain Biking in Xativa, Valencia

Last week, I had the pleasure of welcoming new clients Tina and Dennis, experienced and fit mountain bikers from Denmark. They were staying in the beautiful and historical town of Xativa, an increasingly popular destination for those looking to combine active and cultural tourism. Xativa, the birthplace of both Spanish Popes, and the first place in Europe to produce paper, is located just 50 minutes by train from Spain´s third city, Valencia. We began our mountain bike trip from the heart of the historic centre of Xativa, riding out of town and immediately joining a great trail that took us [read more]

Guided Mountain Biking & Skills Training

Guided Mountain Biking & Skills Training

I recently had the pleasure of meeting husband and wife Roger & Birgit, from Germany together with Roger´s brother Mark from UK.  They were holidaying in the orange growing region of Valldigna, between the town of Alzira and the beautiful old village of Simat.  Together, we had designed a bespoke couple of days that were to include long cross country rides but with a strong element of skills coaching along the way. Day one began with a gentle ride through orange groves and olive groves, all on easy dirt trails, allowing them to become familiar with the Trek mountain bikes [read more]

Training Ride for Marathon Charity Bike Trip in Cuba.

Training Ride for Marathon Charity Bike Trip in Cuba.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Karen and Chris from Manchester, UK.  They were on vacation in La Drova and had previously booked a day of guided mountain biking with me.  The day was especially interesting as Karen was training for a 400km bike trip across Cuba to raise funds for a women’s cancer charity.  You can see more information on Karen’s Blog. As well as an ideal training ride, we also included some fundamental off-road skills training.  The day began with a ride through the Barxeta valley, then through orange groves to the beautiful and historical town of [read more]

Birthday Mountain Biking

Birthday Mountain Biking

Over the Easter weekend I had the pleasure of providing a mountain biking short break for a super couple from London. Samantha had arranged the trip as a surprise for her partner´s 30th birthday. They had chosen to stay at Casa Aldomar in the beautiful old town of Xativa. The first day was a relatively short ride of some 35km albeit with some quite steep climbing. This took us up into the Sierra de Marxuquera, along some gravel trails before descending into the Albaida valley for a coffee break in a farming village. We then took to some slightly more [read more]

Mountain Biking in Valencia.

Mountain Biking in Valencia.

On 28th March, we arranged a day of guided mountain biking for a Dutch couple who were taking a short break in the city of Valencia and wanted to make the most of the region´s beautiful mountains. They took the train from Valencia to Gandia, passing through the natural park and rice fields of Albufera along the way.  We met in Gandia and made the short road journey to the start of the route in the La Safor mountains.  Although both very active people, they were new to mountain biking, so the day commenced with a brief safety demonstration, and [read more]

Welcoming back returning clients.

Welcoming back returning clients.

I´m going to begin this post by thanking my three clients for a superb week of guided mountain biking in Valencia. This was the second trip in little over a year for two of them, especially gratifying as they´re from Montreal, Canada! It was great to see them all and to enjoy a week together, biking, chatting, and enjoying the wine and tapas of the area. We had designed a bespoke package that included 6 nights at the Casa Rural Villa Florencia in Marxuquera, and 5 full days of guided mountain biking. After such a long journey, day one was [read more]
