Mountain biking and city breaks in Valencia

Mountain biking and city breaks in Valencia

I recently had the absolute pleasure of working with Eliane and Silvian from the Netherlands.   They were staying in the city of Valencia and had contacted me whilst arranging their trip, with the aim of combining their time in this enchanting city with a couple of days of mountain biking.  One of our specialities is to help clients to design their mountain biking and city breaks in Valencia. On our first day of biking I collected them from their hotel and we made the short journey south to the region of La Safor.  After a coffee stop and the usual safety [read more]

Bespoke Active Tourism in Valencia

Bespoke Active Tourism in Valencia

Last week I had the pleasure of welcoming back a group of returning clients from UK.  They had previously visited the Valencia region on numerous occasions so knew the area well.  Prior to their trip, we had worked together to design a specific package of activities for them, aimed at delivering exactly what they were looking for from their holiday.  Ultimately, this included bike hire, a day of guided biking and a day of guided mountain walking.   Our first day together was a long and challenging trip.  We had opted to trek up the spectacular 1100m peak of Benicadell [read more]

Mountain Biking Short Breaks.

Early this week I had the pleasure of working with a group of four clients from UK who had designed a holiday that was based upon a city break in Valencia followed by a 3 night mountain bike package at Villa Florencia in Marxuquera, close to Gandia.  All experienced outdoor enthusiasts, they were keen to get out on the mountain bikes to explore this beautiful region. After an informal discussion about the kind of routes they were looking for, we decided on a ride for day one that would take us through a narrow limestone gorge along a riverside trail.  This [read more]

Guided Mountain Biking for Couples

Guided Mountain Biking for Couples

On Saturday 6th April, we arranged a day of guided mountain biking for a couple from Valencia.  This was part of a surprise weekend break, and included two nights at the rural guest house La Casona Ferrando in our home village of La Drova. Fernando and Vibrana were new to mountain biking so we opted for a beautiful route that passes through a wooded limestone gorge, not technical but sufficiently challenging to provide a great environment in which to learn some basic off-road techniques. After the usual safety briefing, we began with a gentle trail before taking on a steep [read more]

Designing New Mountain Bike Routes.

The objective of today´s trip was to put a few finishing touches to a route that we´ve been working on a for a while. The day started with a climb up a very quiet mountain road as a way to gain a lot of height in a relatively short time period.  The trees were in [read more]

New Mountain Bike Routes for 2013

New Mountain Bike Routes for 2013

Looking ahead to the new year, an important task is to add some new routes to our collection.  We have routes to suit all abilities including complete novice, families with young children, casual riders and experienced cross country bikers.  This week´s project was a route that uses a quiet mountain lane to gain height in one of our spectacular local sierras.   Once up high, we used rocky trails to descend into some little known hidden valleys.  This part of the route took us into some remote country, with a feeling of isolation and peace.  The trails demanded attention but [read more]

Mountain Biking with Blanca-Fit.

On Thursday 29th November we had the pleasure of working with Blanca-Fit, a health and fitness company based in Moriara, Spain. They provide specialist holidays for those wanting to lose weight and keep fit. We were delighted to provide an activity day as part of their schedule.  We put together a day of guided mountain biking but also built-in a few sessions of technique and skills training. After the usual introductions and a brief safety demonstration, we set out onto the trail. An initial descent took us down into a wooded valley, where we joined a stony trail that ran [read more]
