Mountain Biking in Valencia

I´ve just come to the end of a fabulous and most enjoyable week with two returning clients from Holland.  The fact that they were returning clients made the week extra special. Both very keen and experienced cyclists, they´ve done plenty of long distance touring routes over the past few years and were now keen to develop their off-road skills.  They were staying in the city as they did the previous year, so the obvious choice for cross country mountain biking in Valencia was the Sierra de Calderona.     We had arranged to do three days of guided mountain biking, [read more]

Mountain Biking Holiday in Valencia

I´ve just come to the end of an absolutely fantastic week with a client from Ireland.  We had communicated by email over the past couple of months and together had designed a tailor-made break for him. As John was travelling alone and wanted a mountain biking holiday in Valencia, he had opted to stay in the heart of the historic quarter of the city, choosing one of the many self-catering apartments that are available there. The plan for the holiday was to begin with a 2-day skills course that also included a session on bike set-up and emergency repairs.  This was [read more]

City break and mountain biking in Valencia

I recently had the pleasure of providing a couple of days of guided mountain biking for a couple from Cumbria, UK.  They were on holiday in Spain and had previously arranged with me to combine a city break and mountain biking in Valencia.  The close proximity to some stunning mountains makes Valencia an ideal destination for those wanting to combine a visit to this enchanting city with some cross country mountain biking. We met on our first morning on the outskirts of the city and made the short drive up into the hills, starting our ride at a mountain village [read more]

Cycling for families in Spain

Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting Annabel, Mark and their son James.  They had travelled from Poland to spend a week in Valencia as a surprise celebration of Mark´s birthday.  I had previously communicated at length with Annabel, and together we´d designed a trip for them that was essentially a twin-centre holiday as a way of enjoying the diversity of the Valencian Community.  I really enjoyed working with them as one of my key priorities is to help my clients to make the absolute best of their time, to discover virtually unknown corners of Spain and to provide [read more]

Mountain biking and walking in Valencia

Last week I had the pleasure of spending a couple of days with Monika, a client from New Zealand who was spending some time exploring Southern Europe.  She had arranged to spend a few days in Valencia and wanted to combine the delights of this very special city with a couple of days of guided activity in the local mountains.  Having discussed her wishes, we designed a couple of days that would include mountain biking and walking in Valencia.  Both days would be spent in the Sierra de Calderona, a wonderful mountainous Natural Park that´s less than 30 minutes by [read more]

Autumn 2014 Bulletin

I´d like as usual to open this Autumn 2014 bulletin by thanking my clients for another great Spring and Summer season. It´s been a busy period and one during which I´ve met some wonderful people as well as having the pleasure of welcoming back some returning clients which is always very special for me.   Relocation to Valencia This year has also been exciting as we relocated to the city of Valencia , a move that has added an extra dimension for our clients who wish to combine a break in this amazing city with some mountain biking in the [read more]

Mountain Biking from Valencia

I´ve just returned from 3 great days of mountain biking from Valencia with a client from UK.  Damian spent a day with me last year when he booked a beginners skills course and combined this with a city break in Valencia.  He enjoyed his time in Valencia so much that he decided to make a return visit and combine his visit with 3 days of bespoke guided mountain biking.  His specific requirements were essentially 3 full days of guided mountain biking that included a strong element of off-road riding skills training.  Our philosophy of never mixing groups allows us to [read more]

Mountain Biking in Alicante

In late August I had the pleasure of providing a day of guided mountain biking in Alicante for a client from UK. During the hottest months of July and August, I often base myself in the Sierra de Mariola in the interior of Alicante.  Much of the landmass is above 900 metres above sea-level, making it more comfortable for summer biking.  It´s less than an hour from Alicante so is a very convenient location for many.  Neil was staying on the Costa Blanca so enjoyed the drive up to Mariola where we met and began our ride. We started close [read more]

Mountain Biking in Xativa

Last week, I had the pleasure of welcoming back some returning clients from UK.  They did a guided mountain bike route with me last winter and had vowed to return for a longer route this year. Having spoken to the group about the kind of day they were looking for, and the kind of terrain they´d like to ride, we opted for a day of mountain biking in Xativa. We began our route in the Valle de Barxeta, and warmed up with a relaxed ride along some easy trails through orange groves, then a short stretch of road took us [read more]
