Last week I had the absolute pleasure of meeting a couple of mountain bikers from Finland.  They were spending some time in the city and wanted to arrange a couple of days of mountain biking in Valencia.

We´d talked before their arrival and had agreed upon a package that included a combination of bike rental and a couple of days of guided mountain biking in the hills that surround this magnificent city.   During their time in Valencia, they explored the surroundings with the bikes.  They enjoyed rides to the Natural Park of Albufera de Valencia, the coast line north of the city, the village of Alboraya and the bike trails within the city and along the beautiful Turia Gardens.

On our first day together, we made the short trip south and began a route in the mountains of the Sierra de Marxuquera.  The day began with a big climb but once up high, we had great views of the Albaida Valley and enjoyed some great rocky trails through this very pretty area.

Our second day was spent slightly further inland where we started our route in the lovely old town of Xativa.  A super riverside trails took us up into the hills and after a climb up to the Sierra de Quatretonda we took to one of this areas best trails, a flowing rocky track that passes through a wooded mountain pass then descends quickly into the Barxeta valley.

We´d had a couple of great days together, and it had been a pleasure to meet these guys.  Their passion for biking and the great deal of care with which they treated the bikes was a real joy to see.
