On Saturday 24th November we arranged a guided mountain bike trip for a group from UK who were visiting a friend in the city of Valencia. All experienced mountain bikers, they wanted to combine a short city break with a day of guided biking. After a brief introduction and summary of the plans for the day we began the route with a gentle climb over a pass.
We soon left the road and took to the trails, initially along a wooded track before beginning the day´s longest climb up trail that put us on top of the Sierra de Marxuquera.
A pleasant level section of trail followed, after which we were able to enjoy a long, winding descent to valley level. After a coffee break, we took the trail again, this time a fast and rocky track between olive groves and pine woods. A short section of road riding followed, then another climb that took us back up into the mountains.
After lunch in the autumn sunshine, we enjoyed the best section of the entire day…a long and beautifully varied section of rocky trail that took us through some stunning mountain scenery prior to the final flowing descent back to the starting point.
After a farewell beer in the village, the group made their way back to the city for a night out in Valencia.
