As part of the bespoke activity holiday that we´ve recently designed for Anne & Nigel from UK, we provided what is becoming an increasingly popular choice – a day of guided cross country mountain biking that included a few sessions of skills coaching.  Anne was particularly interested in developing her technique of descending rocky tracks.

With that in mind we started the day with a sustained climb up onto the Sierra de Marxuquera, and up onto a trail that would provide some great descents.  Having spent some time perfecting body posture and braking and steering techniques we enjoyed the sweeping descent into the Albaida valley where we stopped for a coffee break in a farming village.

After a ride through the valley we took on the day´s second climb before taking on a beautiful rocky trail through a remote wooded pass.  It provided the perfect opportunity to work on riding techniques again, resulting in real progress and much more controlled and confident descending.

We enjoyed lunch up in the mountains, then made the final long descent back to valley level.  A short road ride followed by another section of rocky trail brought us back to La Drova.  We´d completed a route of 42km with over 1,000 metres of ascent.  A superb day, beautiful surroundings and great riding.
