Last week I enjoyed a great day out with a couple of clients from England. Alan and Sarah are outdoor enthusiasts and had already enjoyed a day´s walking whilst on holiday here in La Drova. Sarah has many years of mountaineering experience and Alan is a regular biker.
We were fortunate in that there was some cloud cover as we biked out of La Drova towards the village of Barx. Once on the trail we spent a little time practising safe techniques for descending and ascending loose and rocky trails. Both Sarah and Alan found this to be of great value, and were soon adopting the techniques very well, thereby increasing confidence and safety.
We then enjoyed a long winding descent along a mountain road into the Barxeta Valley where we picked up another rocky trail that took us through orange groves and eventually to the farming village of Barxeta where we sat in the square and enjoyed lunch at one of the village bars.
Using different trails we headed back through the valley towards the village of Pla de Corrals, another traditional Valencian farming village. The heat was increasing so we took a rest in the shade and re-filled water bottles before beginning the climb out of Pla de Corrals and up over the pass back to Barx.
Our return route to La Drova took advantage of some great trails, with both Alan and Sarah comfortably using the techniques practised earlier in the day. After a total of 32km we arrived back in La Drova.
